Prayed on ordinary rosary beads, the Chaplet is an intercessory prayer that extends the offering of the Eucharist. It may be said at any time, but our Lord specifically requested that it be used as a novena on the nine days before the Feast of Mercy (the first Sunday after Easter).
It is also especially appropriate to say the Chaplet during the 3 o'clock hour (recalling the time of Christ's death on the cross). In His revelations to Saint Faustina, our Lord asked for special prayer and veneration for His Passion during this time.
