    About the auction
You are bidding on a signed copy of an out of print book that I published over 20 years ago. Titled Completing the Circle, this was the result of many years of research I did into one of my own family lines, centering around the alleged Native American bloodline in this family. From family stories to spending many years with the North Carolina tribe associated with same, this book represents a very memorable journey into the past for me and those related.
While I experienced both appreciation and conflict for digging into this part of the family past, it still was a heck of a ride for me! I must tell you again that this book is over 20 years old and many aspects and information are outdated and some things turned into wrong paths or dead ends.
In regards to the main premise of this book, obviously the possible connection to the Saponi Indian Tribe, there are a few things that I must tell/warn you about.  First of all, not everyone subscribes to the idea that there was any native connection whatsoever. Then there are many who gladly accept and show pride in the same.
You have to know a bit about native genealogy to see where the conflict can arise here. In the Hathcock/Saponi connection, it is even a tougher process! When dealing with what I call "old tribes" of the NC/VA Piedmont areas, you are not dealing with what became known as the "Five Civilized Tribes" (a government term that I perceive as insulting) that were associated with the Dawes Commission of the early 1900s. One of the most documented tribes if this group were the Cherokee(Tsalagi).
Using the Tsalagi as an example, in addition to the dawes final rolls, there were many censuses and rolls taken of the Eastern Cherokee for the purposes of payment for broken treaties(pretty much all of them), etc. These give us a rich source of documentation today to establish bloodlines for both tribal membership and genealogy.
With the above in mind, let's go back to the Siouan tribes of the Southeast such as the Occaneechi and Saponi tribes. Also remember that just in the SC/NC areas, there were 30 plus smaller tribes that were under the Catawba confederacy in addition to larger tribes of Iroquoian linguistic stock like the Cherokee and Tuscarora.
These smaller bands usually ended up merging with larger tribes to simply survive. Plus, detailed documentation is practically nonexistent compared to tribes that were more enumerated, studied, and written about. Instead, when dealing with the smaller tribes, documentation has to come from trader's notes, court records, private diaries, or such books as A New Voyage to Carolina by John Lawson (I recommend this book completely!) or the writings of William Byrd, all of which date back to the early 1700s.
We can also find many notes during the revolutionary war that often mentions native issues.  In the case of the Hathcock/Haithcock family, there are some excellent notes that mention native characteristics, as well as census records beginning in 1790.
My point is that if you think that you will just find some kind of "Indian" documentation within these smaller tribes, especially where the individuals proudly proclaim their heritage, you are in for disappointment.
Bottom line… do your own research, immerse yourself in the rich history that is waiting to be found, and most of all… be proud of who you are and those before you.  No one can tell you who you are….you already know.
The title was originally sold exclusively through either Amazon or directly from me. I actually didn't know that I still had any copies left, but these few surfaced and they are NEW. They have been sold all over the Eastern seaboard, as the Hathcock family is a big one! Originally, I believe that I only printed about 50 copies of this edition, which is the revised one. The original is long gone and I hold only one copy of it myself.
I have retired from genealogy as it beat both me and my wallet up! The travel time and places it took me were exhausting, but well worth it.
Best of luck to you all.
This item has been stored in a smoke-free environment ever since.
If you have any questions/doubts or concerns, just ask BEFORE bidding. (Just don't ask me how to become a millionaire....Remember, I'm selling bubblegum cards and toys on eBay. That should tell you something...heh.)
    General Information
In case you haven't noticed yet, I set all of my auctions so that all my buyers remain anonymous. Don't worry, if you think folks might see that and think that you ordered nasty stuff from me. I do not sell any such junk, so my business on here is "themed" clean by anyone who sees any of my listings, now, past, or in the future. Why do I keep your identity on here anonymous? Because, I believe a fellow or lady deserves to do SOMETHING in life with a bit of privacy....well, as much as possible anyway. Look at it this way.... don't you feel better if you are looking at fishing rods at the store if folks aren't staring you down and wondering what you are gonna buy? Okay, not a real good online auction comparative example, but you get my drift. The best I can do on my part to protect as much of your privacy on here is two things....Keep all my bidders anonymous on my auctions and secondly, I do not share ANY information with anyone else about you unless it has an absolute necessity to complete your visit and purchases here with me. I do not spam. I do not bug you with advertisements. Not before, during, nor after any transaction with me. I do not own a mailing list for you to have to "unsubscribe" from after your purchase, because the darn things are filling up your email box. I know the deal...trust me on that one. In the past few years, since junk mail moved from the mailbox online to digital, I have come close to being declared criminally insane a few times. So, no worried here. Guess what? You just read my privacy policy! And you didn't even have to drudge through one of those boring, cut and paste poliices that none of us ever read. It's so wonder that I haven't signed away my first born son by now without knowing since I too am guilty of doing the "scroll down, don't read, and agree" to everything, just to get things moving....heh.  So, thank you for reading my policy, now please continue with all the other business stuff below.
    About the seller
I am a US Army veteran (infantry/drill Sgt. and completed a 5 year contract with the Special Forces back in 2014), and a retired SWAT officer, but still a sworn deputy sheriff, and I run honest auctions. I will tell you anything about the item that I am remotely able to tell you BEFORE you buy. That's how I would want it, so I assume you do too. It is not worth my honor or what it took to get where I am by taking someone's money dishonestly. A dollar is not worth that to me...I have been scammed, and tossed to the curb myself in my 19 years on eBay®, so I know the deal. It won't happen here.Any questions? Just ask me....I might come across as a grumpy ex-swat cop or a oiled-down 11 bravo (infantryman...hooah!), but ask any of my teammates, I'm a pretty decent guy to hang out with. Okay, there's our "let's get to know me" conversation. And now the business policies, procedures, and other scary things that go bump in the night...
    About Shipping
I can only ship to addresses in the continental United States. Sorry. (CONUS for you military folks and vets). Ever since I began on eBay® 20 years ago, I ship USPS Priority mail. Trust me, it is one of the better ways to go. It's easier for me to calculate, you get your stuff faster, and hopefully, everyone is happy in the end. That's my goal. Therefore, what I do is include shipping/insurance/boxing/packing materials/my gas to the post office, etc. ALL in the shipping price. So, what you pay is for EVERYTHING. So please know that shipping isn't cheap. As a matter of fact, I often end up eating a lot of cost on that end. Prices are practically ridiculous to ship, trust me, I pay them too. I try to keep it down as much as I can, but I can't give everything away free. I wish I could, but yours truly needs money too or else he wouldn't be on here selling stuff you know? But I promise that I will not gank you on the shipping like so many do. Thank you for your understanding.
    Return policies
Now, my return policy. I basically have none OTHER THAN if you purchase one of my CDs that I made when I was a radio station DJ (and please watch out for those auctions, as they will be back on here soon too!) or one of my software packages that I PROGRAMMED myself for windows. (Part 15 radio station owners, check back, I have a lot of stuff for you coming soon!) Digital items can be replaced with an EXACT copy of what you bought. Due to piracy, it ruins it all for people. ANY OTHER ITEM you buy from me is sold as is. If it looks like a piece of junk to me, I will tell you it's junk. If it's old, new, banged up, or scarred like Lucky Luciano, I will tell you....and you'll probably see plenty of pics on here anyway. Plus, see below - starting with the "Before you bid" title. Remember, you are dealing with a former Army Drill Sgt......"I didn't read the auction page instructions" will simply go in one of my concussion damaged ears, and slide out the other without stopping long enough for me to process what you just said to me (or emailed or whatever). Otherwise, we will stay on the same sheet of music and this transaction will fly by so smooth, you'll want to call your mamma and tell her all about it.
