1952 Handmade Wood Calendar Stand - Lois Jean Welsh (1921-2014) of Northwood, IA

Description

This 9 1/4" x 6 1/8" x 3 13/16" hand crafted desktop wood plague features a front wood burned design with a picture of a bride in the center above the words "LEAP YEAR?" and a decorative outer border.
The top of the piece has the name "Lois Welsh" and the bottom right has what appears to be a envelope symbol, with year “1952” in the center. A complete set of monthly calendar pages for 1952 have been attached to the piece via two thumb tacks, which have removed several times in the past, thus creating several holes in the backer board.
Lois Jean (Robb) Welsh was born in 1921 in Marshalltown, Iowa, to John Clarence Porter and Jesse (Raber) Robb. She was a teacher taught history and art in Des Moines for seven years followed by being the art instructor of Northwood-Kensett Community School from 1963 to 1983. She married Dr. Maurice Welsh (1923-1995) on December 27, 1951. The couple moved to Northwood in 1953 from Marshalltown where Dr. Welsh opened a chiropractic office. Lois passed away in 2014.
The piece is solid with some marring. Some pencil lines can still be seen near some of the wood burned lines.

Shipping:

UPS Shipping:
UPS is offered on select, typically large items, to save on shipping charges.
UPS package drop-offs require a 30 mile round trip to a nearby city.
Drop-offs will only occur when they coincide with other scheduled errands.
UPS packages may require a handling time of up to 5 days.
USPS packages have a much shorter handling time of 1-3 days.
