1815 B.1 Very Tough date Capped Bust quarter, NGC AU55, nice DavidKahnRareCoins

1815 B.1 Low mintage and much better date Bust quarter, NGC AU55.  A very pleasing, original coin, and really hard to find as such.  The coin is a bit lighter than our pics show, and the original, antique golden iridescent toning and strong luster make for a fabulous presentation in hand.  The surfaces are smooth, and free of even minor issues.  The strike is full, with each star showing the center in magnificent detail.  This is a tough and very popular issue as the only US copper, nickel or silver coins dated 1815 are the quarter and half dollar, and both a truly rare in slabbed, nice AU.  Of course, if you insist on completing the 1815 year set, you're going to have to spring for one of the very few know half eagles, and that is likely to set you back a cool half mil or so!  Our hat is off to you there!
If you haven't already, please check out both of the recently published books on Bust quarters.  Although Steve Tompkins' wonderful effort has been out for a little while longer, the more recent work by Rory Rea, et al is also well worth your attention.  Both are incredibly great works, and - though they cover the same subject - they are actually quite different.  Both have places of honor in our library, and we strongly suggest that both deserve a similar place in yours.  Please Google either for ordering info.
